Design-Ring Tips and Bits: An Equestrian's Touch to the Holidays

As the holiday season approaches, many are looking for unique ways to make their parties stand out. If you're an equestrian enthusiast, why not incorporate your love for horses into your holiday gathering? From drinks to decorations, here are some tips on how to add an equestrian touch to your upcoming party.

1. Equestrian-Inspired Cocktails

Start by serving equestrian-themed cocktails at your party. Consider creating signature drinks like the "Derby Delight" or the "Polo Punch." You can also garnish your cocktails with mini horse figurines or stirrers to add a playful touch. You can also use our glassware that is designed with horse colors in mind making them a unique spin on handmade glassware.

2. Horse-Inspired Decor

When it comes to decorations, think rustic and elegant. Incorporate elements like horseshoes, burlap, and plaid into your table settings. You can also use horse-themed centerpieces or place cards to tie the theme together. Some objects that are classic for decoration pieces include Horse Brass, old Bits, horseshoes, show ribbons, prints of old horse paintings, and old spurs. I have collected many pieces from thrift stores, eBay, but a primary amount are from my own collection from when I rode horses.

3. Equestrian-Influenced Appetizers

For appetizers, consider serving equestrian-inspired dishes like mini sliders (a nod to horse saddles) or carrot and hummus cups (a healthy treat for the horses). Get creative with the presentation to impress your guests. Cucumber sandwiches are a classic Derby staple. You can find some horse food picks online that would add a special touch to the display.

4. Horseback Riding Photo Booth

Create a fun photo booth area where guests can take pictures as if they were riding a horse. Getting some hobby horses for the photos would be a lovely touch. Set up a wooden horse prop and provide cowboy hats and scarves for guests to wear. The background can be something easy like a print of a race track, a red rose wall, or the stables with horses heads poking out. I have been using Canva for most of my imagery need and for making fun text additions. This interactive element will surely be a hit!

5. Equestrian-Themed Party Favors

Say thank you to your guests with equestrian-themed party favors. Consider giving out horse-shaped cookies, mini bottles of bourbon (a favorite among horse enthusiasts), or personalized horse keychains as a token of appreciation.

By incorporating these equestrian touches into your holiday party, you can create a unique and memorable experience for your guests. Whether you're a seasoned rider or simply admire the beauty of horses, this theme is sure to impress and delight all who attend. So saddle up and get ready to host a party that will be talked about for years to come!
